Many of us want to own smart dogs at some point in our lives. At the same time, we don’t want to be put out by their intelligence either. You might also be curious to know what the top 10 smartest dog breeds and most intelligent ones are. There’s no particular way to measure intelligence for humans, but many experts have come up with what they consider to be the best ways to measure canine intelligence.
Animal Intelligence is what made dogs what they are today, it’s what changed wolves into what dogs are now. So what is the most intelligent dog breed out there? Let’s find out below.
1- Border collie
The Border collie is what you get when you cross what’s considered to be the most intelligent dog breed with what’s considered to be the top-notch sheepdog. Many people would say that this is one of the most intelligent dogs around, but what makes it so? Well for starters, its ability to learn what its owner wants in under half an hour is what would make it so, but what comes next?
2- Poodle
When you think of poodles as small, what hears you think of them as? You might think that they’re sweet and cuddly dogs I guess. This isn’t entirely true though because what makes a poodle so smart is what helps them become what they are today. Poodles were originally hunting dogs, and what was their role? They would sniff out truffles for hunters! Not only this but what it takes to train a poodle is what you see as being quick too.
3- German Shepherds
What do you think of what makes a German shepherd so intelligent? You might think that it’s what they look like, but what makes them what they are today is what this dog breed is known for. They can learn what you want in under 5 repetitions that make German shepherds what they are today, but what comes next?
4- Shetland Sheepdog
The Shetland sheepdog, also known as the ‘Sheltie’, was originally used to herd and guard the flocks of the islands. What makes them so smart is that they can learn what you want in less than 5 repetitions what comes next? Besides this, this dog is a very protective breed and falls in the category of the smartest dogs in the world today.
5- Doberman pinscher
The Doberman pinscher has a rather bad rap that comes from what they were originally bred for, but what makes them so intelligent? They can learn what you want in under 5 repetitions what comes next? They would attack and bite anyone who came too near, whether this was right or wrong. What made the Doberman pinscher what it is today though wasn’t what they did, but what they can learn. This along with their obedience makes them one of the most intelligent dog breeds around!
6-Labrador Retriever
The Labrador retriever is what many people consider to be the ‘classic’ family dog that comes from what they originally used to do. The Labrador retriever, along with being a very friendly breed, what makes them intelligent? They can learn what you want in under 5 repetitions what comes next? They’re also rather protective and like it when you praise them too much.
7-Papillon
Papillon or Papillons are what we call ‘butterfly-looking dogs’, what makes them so smart? What comes after what made them such wonderful family companions is what this dog breed has gradually become over time. They were originally bred as hunting companions for French noblemen too!
8-Rottweiler
If you’ve been wondering what is the smartest dog breed, then you have the perfect partner here. The Rottweiler is what you get when what’s considered to be the most intelligent dog breed crosses your mind. The thing that makes this breed the most intelligent is the fact that it can learn what you want in under 5 repetitions. Besides this, what makes the Rottweiler so beloved is what they do as a family companion too.
9-Boxers
The Boxer is another great, strong, and very intelligent dog that you can get out there. Boxers are originally known for what they were used to doing since the time of World War I. They are very good guard dogs that can protect what they love most in this world. They are friendly with kids and other pets if they see them on their daily walks or when they play around the house.
Boxers are not what you call “the hyper kind” of dog, but they are what you call extremely intelligent by nature. You can trick them once but not twice since I have tried it myself. So, it is best to teach your young ones how to treat a Boxer right from day one so you don’t get any surprises later on in life!
10-Australian Cattle Dog
The Australian Cattle Dog is what you call a very loyal dog that will always love what its owners love. If they love to go out and have fun, so will your dog! However, if you don’t want to party all the time, your dog will understand it too. The Aussie Cattle Dog comes from what was used to work together with cattle ranchers in Australia since the 19th century.
They are highly intelligent dogs that were able to find cattle from miles away from what they were looking at back then. These dogs can sniff something from up to twenty kilometer’s away – what more could you ask for?! They take pride in what they do and how well they perform their tasks.
I'm a content writer and researcher. But bottom line, I loveee animals. I had my first animal which was a guinea pig at age 8. Later had a bunny, dog and a lot, a lot of fish. Writing about what I know about pets will allow me to share my knowledge and love for them with everyone else. Dealing with dogs my entire life, I know a lot.
